May 17th, 2006 :: “Toyzville!”

Meet Automaton Tom, the star of Larry Merrill’s webcomic, Toyzville. Comics that involve robots? That’s an idea that I think we can all get behind. Toyzville sends a lot of visitors to R-A-D, so you should return the favor. Head over to http://www.toyzville.com and have some good, old-fashioned, robot-webcomic fun!

May 16th, 2006 :: “IF - Angels And Devils”

The weekly theme for Illustration Friday is “Angels and Devils. I’m really happy with the robot’s expression in this one.

May 15th, 2006 :: “Robus (Final)”

What a difference a weekend makes, huh? This is more like it. In response to the question on everyone’s lips when they saw the test painting, the stars in the constellation DO glow in the dark, as does the basic shape, but to a lesser extent than the stars. There will be more of these, but they probably won’t be robotic at all, so you will only see them if you are a R-A-D LiveJournal or MySpace friend.

May 12th, 2006 :: “Robus”

A quick test painting for a (mostly) non-robootic project that I’m starting. Not sure if I’m happy with this. Back to the paints!

May 11th, 2006 :: “The Cycle Of Robot Life”

Today’s bot comes from Brian M. Brown, one of Robot-A-Day’s fabulous LiveJournal friends. Where can you see more of Brian’s work? http://boxbrown.livejournal.com, that’s where.

May 10th, 2006 :: “IF - Fat”

“Fat” is the topic of the week over at Illustration Friday. This may be one of the only robots I’ve ever drawn where you can’t see its face.

May 9th, 2006 :: “Ice-Cream”

Oh my, lookiee what I received in the post this last weekend! As if I needed more of a reason to love Jessica McLeod and her wonderfully cute comics, she up and sends me something this awesome and adorable for her end of our art swap. So sweet, I think I may need to visit a dentist. For those of you who missed out on her illustrious, R-A-D debut, you can (and should) vist http://tiny-monster.livejournal.com and see a whole lot more of what she can do.

May 8th, 2006 :: “Reach For The Green”

A quick, relevant sketch. I have a temp job that starts today, thus ending my life of unemployment just two days short of 10 months.

May 5th, 2006 :: “Robo Hug”

Sorry for the late post today, kids. Inspired by R-A-D’s “Have You Hugged A Robot Today?” stickers, Brenna Zedan emailed me this awesome drawing of the Hug-O-Matic. Brenna’s got loads of goodness over on her own site, it’s located conveniently at http://www.bzedan.us.

May 4th, 2006 :: “R-A-D Turns 6 Today!”

Six months, that is. It was six months ago today that I drew my first robot specifically for Robot-A-Day and posted it, and look at how far we’ve come together! I initially wanted all of my robots to have its number integrated into the illustration somehow. That stopped on November 5th, aka robot #2, so think of today’s robot as an homage to that initial failed idea.

The idea behind Robot-A-Day was just a creative way to keep myself drawing regularly. I only planned on doing it for one year. Now, at the half-way point, I’m not sure I will be able to stop on November 4th, 2006. The support from regular viewers, connections with other artists, and just plain ol’ fun I’ve had drawing robots for myself and all of you is too great to think about stopping.

Thank you.

Now quick, somebody buy something from the R-A-D Store so I can afford to go out and celebrate.
