June 30th, 2006 :: “Quiltmotron”

I was having a conversation with a friend earlier, and when I mentioned that I had not yet drawn a robot for today, she thought that a robot sewing would be a good subject. I have to agree with her. I drew this while swinging in a hammock and listening to rocksteady, which is probably why it’s one of the most serene feeling sketches I have done in a long time. It took a lot of effort to get me out of that hammock to scan and post this. I love my hammock.

June 29th, 2006 :: “Sword of Robots”

(Click for a larger view)

Today’s robot is a salute to some of Robot-A-Day’s awesome LiveJournal friends. I’ve been playing a game called the LiveJournal Dungeon Adventure, a text-based adventure game based on your (or other LJ users’) friends and interests. Bee Eye posted a drawing of all his spoils of the dungeon, so I was inspired to do the same.

After a valiant fight, I was able to fend off the evils of the dungeon with the help of my trusty Sword of Robots, the Armour of Jeff Manley, and the Dagger of Dorkboycomics. After barely escaping, I checked my loot bag to see that I had stolen away with not only the Amulet of Patchworkrobot, but also the much sought after Figurine of Elio!

Now, in rememberance of fallen enemies:
Chainsawkarate the kobold
Cp Journalcomic the floating eye
Himynameisjamie the nymph
Jeremytinder the leprechaun
B Zedan the mind flayer
Hate Song the gelatinous cube
Bee Eye the leprechaun
Silentkimbly the rat
Resonantfish the kobold
Ilikelines the minotaur

June 28th, 2006 :: “IF - Rain”

“Rain” is this week’s theme for Illustration Friday. I wish it would rain. Yeah, that’d be nice.

June 27th, 2006 :: “Melting”

Still too hot to draw. It’s supposed to cool down a bit tomorrow, hopefully bringing me back into form.

June 26th, 2006 :: “Happy Birthday To Me”

It was too hot to draw today in Portland (a record 101 F), and certainly too hot to spend near a computer.

June 26th, 2006 :: BT’s Birthday Blowout Sale!

Sale’s over. Thanks!

June 23rd, 2006 :: “Chompers”

I had a lot of time on my hands yesterday, and a desire to spice up my already awesome kickball jersey, so I went crazy with the X-Acto and made some stencils. I’ve also been painting a lot lately, so I felt the need to show my printmaking rig some love by prettying it up with the stencils as well. This is probably the most angry looking robot I have ever made.

June 22nd, 2006 :: “Feeding The Future”

Yesterday, Jamie Dee Galey asked people to draw a cat in this LiveJournal post. I couldn’t pass up drawing something this cute and/or disturbing. For those of you unfamiliar with Jamie’s work, check out http://www.iamjamie.com. Jamie is also one half of the genius-team behind Filth Hole.

June 21st, 2006 :: “IF - Dance”

“Dance” is the theme o’ the week at Illustration Friday. No extra description from me, but I will leave you with some lyrics from The Aquabats’ song, “Ska Robot Army.”

“They’re coming to take over
To terrorize the earth
They’re skanking in their best suits, so
Beware of the Ska Robot Army!”

Robot-A-Day T-Shirt Update!
I received a giant box of blank t-shirts yesterday. They will not be so blank by the end of this coming weekend. Yay!

June 20th, 2006 :: “Meat!

It’s a robot, made out of meat! Today’s robot was created by Collin David. Collin both draws AND builds robots. Check out more of his work at http://www.resonantfish.com and his 3-D robots at http://www.studiorobotico.com.
