November 30th, 2006 :: “Solve For X”

September 19th was International Talk Like A Pirate Day, and I was called out for not doing a pirate robot that day. The thing is, I always want it to be in November sometime, so I forgot. I’m officially dubbing today “International Pirate Robot Day.” I think everyone should draw one, wink wink.

November 29th, 2006 :: “Airplane Sketch”

I drew this quick sketch while on an airplane last weekend. It’s the only robot I drew during my Thanksgiving vacation. It was a fun break, but now, back to the robots!

November 28th, 2006 :: “Ax-Man Bot”

I’m back from a short vacation over the recent Thanksgiving holiday. Sorry for the awfulness of the picture. I was dealing with a camera phone and a dark overhang, but it’s one of the few photos I took while I was away. For those of you who wish to know, the Ax-Man is a surplus/junk store and yes, I did make a special trip there while I was back in MN. If you live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and haven’t been to at least one Ax-Man yet, for shame.

November 27th, 2006 :: “Tweet”

It’s an absolute pleasure to be able to feature a robot from Damian Wilcox. You should totally go check out Damian’s comics and other goodness at http://www.dorkboycomics.com.

November 24th, 2006 :: “Peer Pressure Robot Boy”

Yet another robot from my fellow PNCA illustration student, Terry Blas. Terry does more with a ballpoint pen by noon than I do in a month. Once again, you can view a lot more of Terry’s work over at http://www.quickburningpaper.com.

November 23rd, 2006 :: “Robot”

I’m out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday, so luckily Brooklyn-based illustrator, Bozoartist, sent me this robot a little while ago to feature while I’m on break. Go check out more of Bozoartist’s work at http://bozoartist.livejournal.com.

November 22nd, 2006 :: “New Header”

Look at the top of the page. Today’s featured bots are part of the new R-A-D header. Things needed a little change.

November 21st, 2006 :: “Robot Love”

I’m all about spreading the robot love, and so is Samuel Gualtieri. He sent me this trio a while ago and I’m happy to feature them. You can check out more of Samuel’s stuff at http://robotwore.livejournal.com or http://flickr.com/photos/artwescream.

November 20th, 2006 :: “We Are The Robots”

This is a painting that will be in December’s “Machines Are Beautiful” show at Muddy Waters Coffeehouse here in Portland. This is of decent size, about 30 by 34 inches, which is much larger than I usually like to work. I’m really liking the simplicity and size of this, and it’s making me want to do more; a lot more.

Also, Robot-A-Day just jumped on the Project Wonderful bandwagon. If you look directly below the header on most pages, you’ll see six small ad spaces. If you have always longed to advertise on Robot-A-Day, now’s your chance! ;)

November 17th, 2006 :: “Machines Are Beautiful”

I posted a work-in-progress of this on Tuesday. I finally finsihed it!

WARNING :: I try to keep this site to a general standard of “work-safeness.” The full image above is of a robot giving birth, so if you do not want pendulous, metal breasts and a gaping, robot vagina on your monitor, you might not want to go any further. For those of you who want to see the whole thing, click the image above, or CLICK RIGHT HERE.

For those of you in the Portland, Oregon metro area :: The “Machines Are Beautiful” art show that this image is for will be on Friday, December 1st, from 5-8pm, at Muddy Waters Coffeeshop, on 29th and SE Belmont. Come on out and see some art!
