Happy Valentine’s Day

Coming back strong after the loss of one comic (see last post), here’s a totally different one. My school, Pacific Northwest College of Art, has asked me to do a short-term daily blog about my life as a PNCA student (or my life in general), and they’ve asked me to do it as a journal comic. So for the next two weeks (ten school days), my comics will be featured on the main page of the school’s website for all to see; and they’re paying! I will, of course, be showing them all here as well, for those of you non-PNCA’ers.

Do I expect my blatant plea for makeouts to work? Hopefully.

Strong Robots Also Cry

I just got word from the Portland Mercury that they have decided to cut Robots Are People Too after a run of two months. They are also cutting Johnny Ryan’s Blecky Yuckerella after a four year run. They had to take out two strips to make room for the new one (it’s a strip most of you probably know already).

Thursday will be the last Mercury printing of both comics. Johnny Ryan’s fan are fuming over at the Mercury’s blog right now. So far, Robots Are People Too has only been referenced once as “that retarded robot comic,” which I think is hilarious. If you want to air out your questions or concerns over the Mercury’s choice, you may do so on the blog link above or via an email to the editor at lovenotes@portlandmercury.com. Even if you don’t want to say anything, people complaining via the internet is always an entertaining read.

PNCA Comics Anthology Back Cover

Sneak preview of what I worked on this weekend. After I color this (very soon), it will become the back cover of my school’s upcoming comics anthology.

His Name Was Nick. He Was 24.

I haven’t had much to post lately, but I have been busy working on stuff. I had quite a few other things I should have been working on last night, but after biking home and seeing what had happened, this is the only thing I could bring myself to create.

On a much happier note, I’ve taken on a gig as the curator of art shows at a new coffee shop that just opened up by my school. It only has a small amount of wall space, so I want to focus on showing artists who make fun, small pieces of art. I’m currently working out the logistics of a very large group show (of very tiny art) for the space, possibly for some month this summer. I’ll keep you up to date as things progress because I’d like to get a lot of people in on this, from all corners of the globe. So who needs a show in Portland, Oregon?

Robot Prank #8

Today’s new Robots Are People Too.

Today is February 1st, which means it’s also Hourly Comic Day. I’ve been drawing a comic every waking hour of the day so far. Click the image below to see the first 12 hours of my day. The rest will be posted tomorrow.
