How About Some Funnies?

I keep a small dry-erase board in my bedroom. If I get a good idea in the middle of the night, I get out of bed and write it on the board. About two months ago, I woke up to find this comic completely written on the board. It’s one of those situations where I really don’t remember getting up and writing it at all, but there it was, and I’ve just now finally found the time to draw it.
I haven’t had time to do much art besides homework lately because I’m in the process of moving my portfolio from www.robopocalypse.com to the more professional sounding, as well as easier to spell and pronounce, www.bigtimeillustration.com. The move should be complete in the next few days, at which point ROBOPOCALYPSE will shut down shortly, only to be reborn as a wholly new and awesome project. I never really expected ROBOPOCALYPSE to be my portfolio, it just sort of happened because at the time I was looking to put together a new site, it was the coolest sounding domain name I owned. The new project is a better fit for the ROBOPOCALYPSE moniker.
Still Here.

I haven’t posted for a few days, as I’ve been working on some longer-term projects, but here’s something I did a while ago but never put up. My friend Terry has a book that he’s currently passing around, in which he wants everyone to draw him a mermaid. The book finally got to me and all I could think about was one of my favorite Futurama quotes. (This is about as collage-y as I get)

Also, I’ve been working on my first linocut print in almost a year and I’m totally in love with printmaking. I built myself a drying line too so I wouldn’t have to dry prints on my bed or floor anymore. It works pretty slick. Here’s the first color of three hanging to dry. It’s on metallic silver paper and has a robot in it, that’s all I can say right now. This picture also gives a little glimpse at what I stare at while doing most of my work.
The Christian War Room

I almost forgot to post this. This ran in Thursday’s Portland Mercury (former home of Robots Are People Too). It went along with an article about Christian leaders meeting to find better ways to make their parishioners vote the “right” way. Jesus isn’t too happy. This was also my first illustration gig with the Mercury, so yay! Click the image for a larger view.
