Baby Otto Research Fun Fact: Two fun fact days in a row! In 1900, Portland held a three-day long Independence Day celebration. There was a big parade on the 4th, when for the first time in Portland’s history, the Chinese residents of the town were allowed to be a part of the parade. They made quite the good impression on the city, according to the local paper, by marching with a huge dragon made of silk and lighting off fireworks.
