That’s it for The Life & Times of Baby Otto Zeplin: Volume 3. I hope you liked it, and the fourth volume is being worked on and will be coming along shortly, after I finish a few other quick comic things.

CMYK Skull

Well, just CMY really. Just a small edition of prints created by me having fun layering process ink with screens that were already burned for other things.

Each three color print is full-bleed on a 9″ by 9″ piece of heavy paper.

Available in my Etsy store for $10!

Evil T-Shirts

Thanks to everyone who chimed in on my t-shirt poll a few days ago. I think what I’m going to end up doing is just print super limited runs of a number of designs and see what happens. First one up is this big skull. Printed white on both black and Army green shirts. There’s an upcoming event at my school which would give me the opportunity to sell some of these shirts, so if anyone out there absolutely wants one, they are only $12 + shipping through 11:59pm (PST) on Saturday the 22nd, that’s tomorrow. After that, they will be for sale at my school until mid-December, then whatever is left will go back for sale online at $15.

I basically only have one shirt of each color/size combination, not that I couldn’t print more later, but right now that’s what I have.

$12!
Color and Size

If anyone is curious, these were printed with discharge ink, which, unlike normal ink that layers on top of the shirt, goes through a chemical reaction when heat-set that leeches the dye out of the shirt and sort of re-dyes it the color of the ink. That means that these shirts are super soft because there isn’t a layer of thick ink floating on the front of your shirt, but also that it’s possible to get really bright colors on dark shirts, something that has always been an issue for me printing with waterbased ink.

Drink Friendly!

After the success of my “Morning Commute” CMYK screenprint last weekend, I wanted to try the process out one more time before moving on to other things that needed doing, so I printed up “Drink Friendly!” Turned out pretty well, I used smaller halftones, so they are a little bit less visible than on “Morning Commute.” Also, one or two of my screens weren’t perfectly clean, little spots and lines of dried emulsion or ink, which when printed added a sort of beat-up, old photo quality to these prints.

Available in my Etsy store now!

So Many Possibilities!

In the last few days, I have received both a large box of black and army green t-shirts as well as some different screenprinting ink for fabric that I’ve been wanting to try out, just white and red at this time. I threw this little mockup together based on a few things people have requested on t-shirts, or I have thought about putting on t-shirts, or just plain took out of my sketchbook as a basic idea that would get finalized later.

My question(s) for all of you reading this are:
A) Would you even realistically purchase a shirt from me? (Probably in the $15 range)
B) If yes, which of the designs below would you be most interested in purchasing? Or if there is another design you’d like to see too, speak up.

The two shark designs might be a hassle to print, but I think I could pull it off if this new ink works the way I want it to. Also I don’t have blue ink, nor do I have blue shirts for the “KILL” shark, but I threw it in there because I received a few requests for it on a shirt and would not be disinclined to purchase the required shirts and ink if that one’s a winner.

I’m in enough of an experimental screenprinting mood right now that I might even do a few of these many designs anyway, or would do a pre-order to do a specific design if someone definitely wanted one.

My Screenprinty Weekend

In case you missed them, I made a number of posts this weekend while in the process of completing this print based off of my “Morning Commute: 50,000 BC” illustration. It’s my first successful CMYK screenprint, which essentially allows me to be able to screenprint any of my normal illustrations if I so please, and I probably will…

I also finished the “SHORK!” print that I posted 3/4 complete on Friday.

Oh yeah, and I also printed up two of these test-prints of sorts, in case you like both of my recent shark prints, but can’t decide on which is your favorite.

All three prints are already in my Etsy store: radrobot.etsy.com
