These will be up on The Weekly Print a little bit later today, but I snapped a pic of them drying, so I thought I’d give you fine people a preview. I wanted to do something big, simple, and graphic this week, so there ya go.

So, back in December, I was in a group show called Ten Cent Tales at Sequential Art Gallery here in Portland. Each artist was to create pieces inspired by old pulp novels. I finished this painting back in October, but as I almost always do with pieces I put in shows, forgot to take any pictures of it. I’ve now had it back in my possession for quite a while, and am finally getting around to documenting it, roughly four months after I finished it.
I just decided to come up with my own fictional, sci-fi, pulp magazine and illustrate the fictional cover story. This was a fun piece to work on. I don’t really draw monsters as much as I’d like, I’m not sure why.

I’ve been reading Frankenstein for one of my classes this semester. I just finished it a few days ago, so I thought I’d draw my inspiration from the novel for my print this week. Two colors, 8 by 12 inces, limited edition of 30, and available for purchase, as always.

50 years ago today, Buddy Holly died in a plane crash. There’s always been something really special to me about Buddy Holly’s music, his life, his look, and everything. So in honor of all that, here he is as a zombie.
I went out to a diner in NW Portland for lunch on Friday, and sat at the counter which happens to face a large mirror. I’ve been going through some head stuff lately and it was there that I decided it was finally time to chop the beard down; get a little bit of physical change to spur on some mental change maybe? I cut it down yesterday, one day short of 8 months since the last time I shaved down to just a moustache.
From ne’er-do-well sea captain to 1950’s hipster in mere minutes. The goat probably won’t last more than a few days unless it proves popular with the ladies or something, but it’s fun for now.
My cheeks are cold.
