Baby Otto Theme Contest

Hey, here’s a sneak peek at the cover for volume two! I’ll be screenprinting them this evening, more on that later.

I’ve been getting some good entries to the Baby Otto Theme Contest lately, keep ‘em coming!

Oh hey, also, so I’m sure many of you know that next week is Discovery Channel’s annual SHARK WEEK. To celebrate, Acey Thompson is rounding up artists to draw a shark everyday during Shark Week (July 27-August 2). She started a Shark Week Flickr Group, so go join up and post your sharks next week!

Anyone want to guess what this is? No? OK, I’ll tell you. That right there is every single sheet of paper for every single cover for the remainder of The Life & Times of Baby Otto Zeplin. Every single one, from volume two right on through ten. I went to my favorite paper store to buy the coverstock for the current volume, and wouldn’t you know it, the paper’s been discontinued! After some searching, these five lovely purple-wrapped packages were found in a warehouse in Colorado, so I snapped them right up. It’s weird because when you look at it, it doesn’t really look like that much paper, but it’s actually more than I’ll need for the minimum 2,700 covers for the rest of the series. Volume one is getting nearer to selling out its initial run of 300, so I may need that extra paper for an extended edition.

Ahem… June 3rd-5th, 1900

I figure it has been long enough since I posted the first two days of Volume Two that I may as well post them again, along with the new page. Volume Two is nearing completion and I plan on posting at least one page a day until it’s complete. For those of you who need a reminder, or perhaps have just found me in the last six months and need an introduction to this little boy, please start with Volume One.

Also, the Baby Otto theme contest is still going on until August 3rd, about the time that Volume Two will be finished and released. Find out how to participate by following the link in the previous sentence.

It’s good to be back, let’s just leave it at that. It feels right this time.

Mustaches: For Fun and Profit

I finally found the time to put my new, Stumptown-debuted comic, Mustaches: For Fun and Profit, up for sale on the RCC website. It’s a 24-page, autobio story about my experience with facial hair, or more specifically, my first handlebar moustache. Each comic in the initial limited edition of 92 has a two-color, screenprinted cover and has a hand-cut, hand-glued, felt moustache on the front, in your choice of blonde, brown, or gray. (Black and orange sold out during Stumptown, sorry)

They’re only $4 (plus shipping) and they’re for sale right here. The first few people to order will also receive a free “Facial Hair Enthusiast” pin, while supplies last.
