June 30th, 2006 :: “Quiltmotron”

I was having a conversation with a friend earlier, and when I mentioned that I had not yet drawn a robot for today, she thought that a robot sewing would be a good subject. I have to agree with her. I drew this while swinging in a hammock and listening to rocksteady, which is probably why it’s one of the most serene feeling sketches I have done in a long time. It took a lot of effort to get me out of that hammock to scan and post this. I love my hammock.

YEAH!!
Nice work on the sewing theme.
(You have a hammock?)
Glad you like it. Yes, I have a hammock, and it is WONDERFUL!
I’ve been looking at hammocks too lately–can’t wait to get one. Rockstedy? Is that a type of SKA or reggae? Anyhow, nice work–very soft and serene looking indeed.
Rocksteady lies between the creation of ska and reggae, chronologically. Imagine early ska, but slowed down and with more vocal harmonies.
We are glad the hammock inspired you to do this drawing!

I’m always happy to see robots doing things the old-fashion way. You don’t always need a sewing machine.
