Tarot Card Print

You regular viewers may remember this image from a few weeks ago. My school is putting on a tarot card themed print exchange this year, and I finally printed these up late last week. I made a polymer plate of the image and letterpressed them (at the IPRC) onto French Paper’s Pop-Tone Whip Cream paper.

The first 41 prints of the limited edition of 48 prints are for the print exchange, so I’ve only got the last seven up for sale in my Etsy shop.

Also: There’s about three weeks left to turn in your BEARFIGHT submissions!

The Future Is In Your Hands

Each year, my school puts together a print portfolio exchange. Usually 40-some artists, students and teachers alike, take part and get together at a big potluck party to compile and exchange prints. This year’s theme is “tarot cards,” so I thought it might be fun to take the classic, one-color style of regular playing cards, and design what could be the backside of the cards in a tarot deck.

I also think it’s kind of funny because of the double meaning of the phrase “The Future is in Your Hands” being somewhat related to cards in the sense of hands of cards, but also the other meaning in reference to you making your own destiny is not really what tarot’s all about.

I won’t be printing this for another couple weeks, but I’m definitely going to make a non-exchange edition too, in case anyone is interested in one.

Taking Care of Business

I finished this bit of ridiculousness a few days ago. I was gearing up for my last year of school, which started yesterday, so I wanted to tackle something fun, just in case this semester is full of serious illustration projects.

Here’s the back story: Last week, I got a chance to play around with a really nice embroidery machine that my mom bought just bought for herself. I spent a day or so playing around, embroidering my name or moustaches on things. Finally, I wanted to try something over the top, so I mixed a bunch of patterns and letters together and then embroidered this quite large on the back of an old shirt.

I don’t really care for horses, to be completely honest, but I’ve been finding myself very obsessed with them on some “ironic” level lately.
