The Summer Of Stache Continues!

The day after the end of my graphic novel class which I mentioned yesterday, I went to a panel discussion at my school with the incredibly artsy sounding title of Thinking the Visual: Seeing Narrative, Moving Boundaries. I’m not really sure what that all means, but it was pretty much a talk about animation and comics, where they are at, what they can do, where they are going, etc. The panel was made up of Scott McCloud, Paul Wells, J.J. Seidelmaier and Rose Bond, one of my favorite PNCA instructors. This post isn’t about the discussion though, it’s about facial hair. I was talking to Scott afterwards and a woman came up to me and said, “Your moustache is as creative as Will Vinton’s.” I had never seen a photo of the king of claymation, Mr. Vinton, before, and I was confused about her use of the word “creative,” so I just thanked her modestly. After I returned home, of course I instantly searched for photos of Will Vinton, and man, I’m still not sure about the whole “creative” thing, but Will’s definitely got me beat on size and quality. He’s got nicer teeth too.

Wow. It’s like he’s got wings growing out of his nose like some fantastical bird. I bet he can fly. Anyways, I felt sort of bad being noticed for the stache because J.J. Seidelmaier was rocking an incredibly sweet Van Dyke, which I had meant to compliment him on, but never got the nerve to.
Oh, I’ve also put up the newest RCC jam comic right here.
